William Atkins Obituary
A native and lifelong resident of Newport News, Va., entered into eternal rest.
Mr. Atkins was a student of the Newport News public school system and retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Atkins.
He is survived by his two sons, William H. Atkins III of East Orange, N.J., and Lawrence Atkins of Newport News; a daughter, Barbara Warren of Hampton; one sister, Ruth Harris of Hampton; six grandchildren, Kevin Atkins, Julie Land, Lamont Atkins, Andre Atkins, Richard Atkins and Timothy Warren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Homegoing Celebration Service will be held at noon Thursday, Aug. 28, at Miracle Temple Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Pleasant Shade Cemetery. Viewing will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and two hours prior to the service at the church on Thursday. The family will receive friends at 1254 – 21st St., Newport News, and will assemble there by 11 a.m. Thursday for the procession to the church.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I did not know of Mr. Atkins passing until today. If I had known and was not working, I would have been in attendance. His passing seemed so sudden.
