Dee Johnson Obituary

ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. - Dee F. Johnson, 78, of Zephyrhills, Fla., passed away Aug. 22, 2008.
He was born April 3, 1930, in Minneapolis, Minn. After a distinguished military career, which included stations in Hawaii, Italy and Turkey, he retired from the U.S. Army in 1968. Dee went on to a second career as a Computer Programmer with the U.S. Civil Service in Newport News, Va. His love of fishing led Capt. Dee to earn a captain's license from the U.S. Coast Guard and operate a fishing business onboard Reel Time Charters. Moving to Florida in 2002, Dee pursued his other hobbies of golf and computers.
He is survived by his loving family, including his wife, Gladys, and sons, Steve (Laurie) of Titusville, and Greg of Bedford, Va.
A memorial service with military honors will be conducted 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, at the Florida National Cemetery, in Bushnell, Fla.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Dee's honor to the American Heart Association, 1-800-242-8721. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.
