Herbert W. Oliver

WILLIAMSBURG - Herbert W. Oliver peacefully answered the Master's call on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, in Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center.
His life began on June 21, 1953, the son of the late Elizabeth and Harry Oliver of Williamsburg, Va.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and in 1973 he graduated from James Blair High School. Due to illness, he retired from Colonial Williamsburg after many years of service. To know Herbert was to love him and he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his blessed memories, his stepmother, Lucy Oliver; his sisters, Jean Hunter (Richard) of Williamsburg and Antionette Collins (James) of Richmond; his brother, Henry Oliver of Williamsburg; his stepbrothers, Roderick Piggott and Kenneth Piggott; his aunt, Ruby Hart; his nephew, Richard Hunter IV (Kim); his special cousin, Timia Haskins; his great-niece and great-nephew; his devoted care-taker, Shelia Coles; and a host of other loving relatives and many caring friends.
A funeral service will be held noon Saturday, Aug. 30, in The Word Christian Fellowship, located in Whiting's Chapel, 7345 Pocahontas Trail, Williamsburg, with the Rev. Sylvester Diggs officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Family and friends will assemble by 11 a.m. Saturday at 310 Ironbound Road. Mr. Oliver may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
