Nira Barker Obituary
Born on the Eastern Shore of Va., she made her home in Newport News for 66 years. She was a homemaker and of Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Albert C. Barker of Newport News; two sons, Robert Boyd of Butler, Pa., Robert Barker of Ruckersville, Va.; step-children, Debbie Leonard of Bristol, Va., and Randy Barker of Gloucester, Va.; four grandchildren; also survived by a sister, June Patton of Vero Beach, Fla., and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fletcher and Alberta Barnes.
Visitation was held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd, Newport News. Graveside services will be held 3:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, at Peninsula Memorial Park. The Rev. Tommy Davidson, Pastor of Riverside Baptist Church, Newport News, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Riverside Baptist Church, 7409 River Rd., Newport News, VA 23607.
She will be missed by her family & friends.
