Robert Barnes Obituary
A native of Lumberton, N.C., he was a former resident of The Mennowood Retirement Community in Newport News.
Mr. Barnes retired from Newport News Shipbuilding, Dept. X44, after 35 years of service and was an Army veteran. He was a member of Warwick Assembly of God.
Survivors include his daughters, Kimberly Austin and her husband, Russell, and Carolyn Stagemeyer and her husband, Dave, all of Hampton, and Deborah D'Agostino and her husband, Robert, of Toano; sons, Kevin Barnes and his wife, Leigh, of Athens, Ala., and Keith Barnes of Newport News; and four grandchildren, Stacy, Ashley, Lauren and Julia.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at Peninsula Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home by the Rev. Keith Frix. Interment will follow at Hampton Veterans Memorial Gardens.
