Doretha Porter Obituary

HAMPTON - Doretha B. Porter, 84, ended her earthly journey on Sept. 1, 2008
She began her life on Dec. 19, 1923, in Potecasi, N.C., born to Essie Weaver-Bradley and James Bradley.
She married Leroy 'Pap' Porter, and was instrumental in forming Porter's Cab. From this union they produced two sons.
A resident of Pawling, N.Y., for over 30 years, she worked for Halen Valley State Hospital in Wingdale and retired after 30 years of service. She moved back to Hampton, Va., after retirement for the remainder of her years. She was a special person who loved her family and will be dearly missed.
Doretha is survived by her loving sons, Wayne Porter and daughter-in-law, Waymona Porter, of Virginia, and son Andre Lambertson of New Jersey; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild. She is also survived by her son Michael L. Porter.
Her internment was held Sept. 3, 2008, at Hampton Memorial Gardens. A memorial service will follow at a future date. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.
