Geoffrey James Obituary
He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence James; mother, Alice James; and brother, Bruce James.
He leaves to mourn, his sister, Gail Pyatt-Evans; brother-in-law, Roger Evans; three nephews; two nieces; eight grand nephews and nieces; other family and friends.
A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at the funeral home. A Funeral service will be held 11a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at Nickelson-Cummings Funeral Chapel. The James family is receiving services of comfort at Nickelson-Cummings Funeral Home, 4304 Victoria Blvd., Hampton. (757) 728-0122. As i was looking at the Daily Press online, i saw that Mr James had passed on. He was always smiling and seemed like he was enjoying his job.
I always talked a few words with him when i came to school.
My daughters Jessica and Jennifer were also sad, when i told them that he had died.
They said he was always joking and dancing through the hallways.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Mr. James was always so kind, caring, and never had an unkind word to say about anyone. There are very few people in this world that you can say that about.The Phillips family will miss him and we pray that God will grant him the peace that he deserves.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the James family. Each and everyday, Mr. James brought a smile and a kind word to his Phillips family of staff and students. I feel fortunate that I had the opportunity to know him while working there. His presence will be missed.

I only knew Mr. James for a short time since I have been working at Phillips, but he always greeted me with a smile and kind words and I know he will be missed by many. My condolences to all of his family and friends, you are in my prayers.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the James family. My son Nick came home from school on 9/10/08 and told me that Mr. James had passed and that Mr. James was really going to be missed by all the students at Phillips Elementary. He spoke so highly of Mr. James and how nice Mr. James was to him. He also praised Mr. James's dancing ability.
