Leonard Walker Obituary

YORKTOWN - Leonard Roderick Walker, Sr., 56, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sept. 8, 2008, in his home.
His life's journey began in Newport News, Va., on Aug. 6, 1952, the son of the late Christine and Bosie Walker. He was married to his wife, Loretta, for 32 years. He was a devoted and loving husband and a wonderful and great father. In 1995, Leonard retired from the Newport News Water Works, after 25 years of dedicated service. Leonard was a caring and loving person and touched the hearts of all he met and he will always be remembered as "Pops".
He leaves to cherish his blessed memories, his loving wife, Loretta Walker; his sons, Leon Walker and Leonard Walker, Jr. (Jaclyn); his five brothers; his sister; his grandson; and many other loving and caring friends.
A funeral service celebrating his life will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, in Rising Sun Baptist Church, Lackey, Va., with the Rev. Robert Allen officiating. Interment will follow in the Masonic Burial Grounds. Family and friends will assemble at 513 Leigh Road by noon on Saturday. Mrs. Lo and Family,
Surely a part of your family circle is missing. Leonard was a good husband and father which was revealed by his concern for each of you. He loved you all so very much. I was impressed by his love and concern for his sons in a time when some men do not mentor their children.
Lo, he was concerned about you as well. He knew how hard you were working and continuing to maintain the family and home. Good Job!
I pray for your comfort in times to come. Tears will come and go for awhile. Those sweet and joyful memories of Leonard will resurface in time. Just be mindful that he wants you all to take good care of yourselves.
Be encouraged and blessed.
