Robert Hogge Obituary

POQUOSON - Robert Estridge Hogge, 62, a native and lifelong resident of Poquoson, passed away Sept. 18, 2008.
He retired after 39 years of service from Northrop Grumman in April of 2008. He was a member of the National and Hampton Roads Harley Owners Group. Robert enjoyed riding his Harley and spending time with his family.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Janet Hogge; a son, Robert W. Hogge; a daughter, Susan M. Zasimowich and husband, Shayne; four grandchildren, Andrea, Erica, Rachael, and Shayne; three brothers, Thomas Hogge, Lester Hogge, and William Hogge; and a sister, Jean Adams.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson, and at other times at his home. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home by Mr. Judson G. "Buck" Shackelford. Interment will be private at a later date.

I just wanted to take the time to share some things about my father. He was the best dad anyone could have. He was a big teddy bear with a big heart. I have been blessed to see my father everyday. When he retired he always said I would have to bring him a biscuit in the morning. I am so glad I got the chance to do that. He was a great grandfather to my son. Many time him and my son shared a plate of fish sticks and had conversatons. He will always be watching over us and will be missed everyday. Thank you all for your support.

I just wanted to take this time and share some things about my father. He was the greatest father any daughter could have. My dad has always been a big teddy bear with a big heart. I have had the blessing of seeing my daddy everyday. He always said when he retired I would have to bring him a biscuit every morning. I'm glad I got to do that for him. He was a loving grandfather for my son. Many times they would sit on the couch and share a plate of fish sticks and have conversations. I know hes watching over all of us and we all will miss him every day. Thank you all for your support.

Janet and Family,
I worked with Robert for 38 years. To know him was a joy. You never knew what his next hobby would be; from CB radios, campgrounds, model airplanes, to driving limosines at the airport and his last love was the greatest, his bike. Every hobby he had, he lived it to the max. I really enjoyed him. I know how much he loved his family. He talked about them often..from his son blowing the bugle in the military and being a policeman to his daughter's gift of music and the grandchildren they gave him. My prayers are with Janet and her family. I will really miss him. He was a great friend to have.

Janet, and Family,

I was so sorry to hear about your loss.

I worked with Robert when he first started to work at NEWPORT NEWS SHIPBUILDING IN 1969.

ROBERT was really a good person to work with on the job. He always knew what to do and was respected by all his co-workers.

ROBERT will be missed by so many friends and co-workers that he made in his 39 years at the shipyard.

To the Hogge Family,
I could not have been more sorry to hear from JJ that Bobby has lost his battle. I worked with him at the shipyard and we shared discussions about Harley's. He made jokes about my pink bike every time he saw me. He was a wonderful guy and will be truly missed by everyone. Your family is in our prayers.
