Patrick Allen Obituary
Patrick was a 1972 graduate of Dos Palos Joint Union High School, in Dos Palos, Calif., and was a member of the high school band as a percussionist. He was an all-state champion in baseball two years in a row at Merced College, in Merced, Calif. He earned an MBA from San Jose State, in San Jose, Calif. After college, he played minor baseball for the Los Angeles Dodgers organization. His enjoyment working with children led him to become a volunteer baseball coach with the Phoebus Little League and the Wythe travel teams. He enjoyed staying active and played softball in the recreational leagues over the years in California, as well as in Hampton.
Patrick was preceded in death by his mother, Billie Chapman Allen; and his father, Bobby Gene Allen.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years, April Link Allen; son, Tyler Allen of Hampton; son and daughter-in-law, Nicholai and Amy Allen of Los Angeles, Calif., and expectant parents of his first grandchild; mother of first son, Gabrielle Llewellyn; step-mother, Diane Allen; sister, Ann Allen of Chowchilla, Calif.; mother-in-law, Raybelle Pickin Wilson; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews; and his extended hockey families.
A special thanks to Dr. Harriet Jones, Dr. Burt Rubin and staff, Langley Speedway, Whalers Hockey Club, neighbors, friends, and loved ones.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, 2008, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 5349 E. Princess Anne Rd., Norfolk, VA 23502.

Dear, Tyler and April,
It is with much sadness that I am learning of the passing of Mr. Allen. I read the obit this morning and was amazed at how much he accomplished during his life time. Tyler, Im sure you are very proud of him as he was of you. April, you have been a tower of strength and from afar I admire you tremendously. Peace be with the both of you.

Dear April and Tyler,
We are so sad to see that Pat has passed away. It was always such a pleasure talking with him, he was genuinely interested in how the kids were doing, both in school, on the rink and in their other hobbies. We will remember him as the smiling, caring person he was.
