Jane Evertz Obituary

WILLIAMSBURG - Jane Bonner Evertz, professional and homemaker.
Jane Evertz, commercial real estate broker, marketing professional, and advocate for the arts, died of a rare form of pancreatic cancer at her home in Williamsburg, Va. She was 52.
Jane Marie Bonner was born and raised in Baltimore, Md., daughter of the late John C. Bonner, a career FBI agent and Jane Duffy Bonner. She attended Cromwell Bridge Elementary School, Towsontowne Middle School, and Towson High School and later graduated from Campo Lindo High School in Moraga, Calif. She was a 1977 graduate of Towson University with a degree in speech and pathology. She began her career as an institutional sales associate for Xerox. Skilled at dovetailing business needs and resources, she later sold commercial real estate for Hill Management in Towson, Md.
In 1986, she married Hubert Evertz, a native of Koeln, Germany. They moved to Williamsburg, Va., where she became an active community volunteer. She worked as a sales representative for artist, Nancy Thomas, in Williamsburg and Yorktown, combining her professional skills with a love for art and an interest in local history and customs. She also worked for the American Marketing Association, coordinating east coast events for this national firm. She was an advocate for local traditions including the Williamsburg Farmers Market, Occasion for the Arts, and Williamsburg Fifes and Drums Corps.
She was a member of the Catholic community of St. Bede's Catholic Church, Williamsburg, Va., where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, followed by a private burial at Williamsburg Memorial Park. At a later date, a memorial mass will be offered at The Church of the Immaculate Conception in Towson (where Mrs. Evertz made her first communion, was married, and brought her first two children for baptism).
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Caroline Niesen Evertz; two sons, Paul Christian Evertz and Kurt Wilhelm Evertz, all of Williamsburg; her mother, Jane Bonner of Sanibel Island, Fla.; three sisters, Elaine Pevenstein of Hunt Valley, Md., Maureen O'Hara of Lutherville, Md., and JoAnn Rogers of Rehoboth Beach, Del.; two brothers, Chris Bonner of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Kevin Bonner of Timonium, Md.; her brother-in-law, Oswald Evertz of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler, Germany; 15 nieces and nephews; two grand-nieces; one grand-nephew; and countless friends all over the world.
The Evertz family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg, VA.

Memories and Condolences

Not sure what to say?

Words cannot describe how shocked Jill and I were to receive this sorrowful news. Please accept our condolences and prayers for the families of our dear friend. I was one member of the tight-knit group that worked together with Jane at Xerox, back when we were all "green" and trying to make our way in the world. She was the professional leader whose success and stature we all sought to emulate. But she was also the smile and boisterous laugh that actually made it enjoyable to go to the office, even on the worst days. Though we attended Jane and Hubert's wedding and visited her at GBMC with the birth of Paul, we were only able to enjoy a close friendship for such a short period of time, due to time and distance. But what a Wonderful time! Everyone would agree, that whether you knew Jane for one day, one week, one year, or a lifetime, she left an indelible mark in your life and helped create memories never to be forgotten. Very few people hold that special magic. We will miss her dearly and pray for God's grace to fill our empty vessel with a rose petal for every fond memory or recollection of her laugh.

Hubert and Family,
George and I met Jane, through my brother-in-law, Bruce Conrad, and my sister Anne Conrad. What a delightful, fun and happy person. Then we met you - - - a better pair was never made. We are truely saddened for you, your children, and your extended families. May God bless you all, as He welcomes Jane home. I would very much like to attend the Memorial Service at Immaculate Conception Church, when it is planned. Our prayers are with you.

Dear Elaine and Family,
God has taken an angel to heaven and I am deeply saddened for each of you.

May your faith and courage be strong through this devasating time. We do not understand why a vibrant young human being is called to heaven and I am certain that Jane is already in heaven.

Each of you will be in my daily prayers and I will recite the Rosary and each bead will represent our prayers that your pain will eventually lessen and that your intense family loyalty keeps you all strong.

May God watch over each of you today, tomorrow and always.

May Jane rest in peace and please know that one day we shall all be together again.

My deepest sympathy.

My dear friend, Jane, I can’t believe that you are gone so soon, so fast….we met in our 20’s and what fun we had…you would laugh and slap my back at the same time, and we would then laugh at that…we laughed at our hairdos, and our outfits….we laughed through tears when we had difficult moments…and then you married Hubie and had your beautiful babies…you will continue to shine through your children’s gestures, expressions, and generosity…we are all so lucky to have had you even if for a short while…

I was friends with Janie at Towsontown Jr High and Towson High school. I will always remember her as the funniest, best laugh, greatest sense of humor. No one could tell a better story than Jane. She was beautiful inside and out. I am a better person for having known her. It is a tragic loss for all of us. My prayers go out to her whole family.
