Barbara Morgan Obituary
MOON - Barbara Whitney Morgan, 89, passed away on Sept. 15, 2008, at her home in Moon, Va.
In the past, Barbara was a member of the Augustine Warner DAR Chapter, where she served as State Chairman of the Flag Committee. She enjoyed participating in the Republican Women's Club, Friends of the Mathews Memorial Library, a Charter Member of the Mathews Yacht Club and loved serving as a Brownie Scout Troop Leader. Barbara was especially proud to belong to the American Red Cross Grey Ladies. She attended Christ Episcopal Church and taught Sunday School at Kingston Parish House. Barbara was a generous contributor to many diverse charities and organizations throughout her life.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Captain Joseph W. Morgan of Moon; her parents, Captain and Mrs. Richard W. Whitney of Redart; her niece, Holly Everding Ezell of Springfield, Ill.; and her beloved poodles, Mouse, Muffin and Mindy.
She is survived by her daughter, Judith Morgan Flores and husband, George; a sister, Janet W. Everding of Hudgins; grandchildren, Barbara Tiffany Ratliff of Port Haywood, Sheldon Whitney Rowles of Morro Bay, Calif.; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Jessica, Jennifer of Port Haywood and Cooper Joseph of Morro Bay, Calif.; niece, Sheldon E. Starr of Oklahoma; a nephew, Robert E. Everding Jr. of West Virginia; and several great-nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Barbara's memory to the Animal Care Society, P.O. Box 121, Mathews, VA 23109, or to the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society, P.O. Box 385, Gloucester, VA 23061, who provided her with her much loved and faithful companion, Mindy.
