Lueitha Lee Obituary

WILLIAMSBURG - Lueitha Manning Lee was called home from labor to reward in her home on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008.
Her life began Feb. 10, 1924, the daughter of the late Bell and Luther Manning, of New Kent County, Va. Her parents provided a Christian home for their six children and she was the last surviving of her siblings.
She attended and graduated in 1942, from New Kent County Training School (now known as New Kent High School). In her youth, she confessed her faith in God and joined Mount Nebo Baptist Church, New Kent County. She served her church as a member of the Usher Board and the Missionary Society and she was affiliated with the church Sunday school. Later in life, she joined hands in fellowship and became a faithful member of St. John Baptist Church on Penniman Road. She was a member of the Busy Bee Club, the Pastor's Aide and the Missionary Society. Lueitha retired from Camp Peary after 34 years of dedicated service. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her husband, Garland H. Lee Sr.; her son, Garland "Buster" Lee Jr. (Angela); her daughters, Beranda Lee and Olivett Bassett; her six grandchildren; her four great-grandchildren; her nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other loving relatives and many caring friends.
A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2, in St. John Baptist Church, Penniman Road, with the Rev. Walter Hudson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at 122 Weaver Road by noon Thursday. Mrs. Lee may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. To Garland (Buster) and Angela

For each of us there comes a moment when death takes us by the hand and says -- it is time to rest, You are tired, lie down and sleep. We know your mother was on a journey and now God has taken her from your eyesight but not from your heart and mind.

You have our sympathy in the loss of your loved one.

Bus I would just like to offer my condolences to you and your family. I have been your neighbor for over 35 years so I feel a major loss has happened in my life as well. Your mom was a very good and nice lady who always had a good word to keep you and I on the straight and narrow. She always treated me as if I was her son as well and she will be greatly missed. Keep the faith and god will take care of the rest.
