Mary Stiff Obituary

SPRING GROVE - Mary Elizabeth Stiff, 67, passed away on Sept. 27, 2008. She was the daughter of the late John and Kayte Pullen of Bedford, Va.
A member of the Red Hat Society, she attended church at the Fort Eustis post chapel and was a member of Lovely Zion Baptist Church in Bedford, Va.
Mary enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She also enjoyed collecting Light houses and various figurines, which she used to decorate her home. She was especially passionate about her home and making sure it was always prepared to receive guests.
Mary was preceded by her sisters, Peggy Harrison, Patricia Reynolds; and brother, John Pullen.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Harry Stiff Sr.; two sons, Harry Stiff Jr. and wife, Julynn, of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Keith Stiff and wife, Marcelle, of Orlando, Fla. There are two granddaughters, Kennedy and Marissa. Mary is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Billy Pullen of Fort Washington, Md., Ruby Lowry and Gary Pullen, both of Bedford, Va., Kay Thompson of Newport News, Va.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, at the Denbigh Chapel of Altmeyer Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the Ft. Eustis Chapel; internment will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Fairmont Cemetery in Bedford, Va.

It is hard for me to look out at the congregration at chapel and not see Mary. I am truly missing her sweet spirit and wonderful smile. We have lost a lovely lady, but heaven has gained. May God be with the family.

I am very saddened by the recent loss of Mrs. Stiff. I really only Know Harry but I know with the kind of man he is that his Mom was certainly a classy lady and will be sorely missed by all her family and friends. Take comfort in knowing that in our faith there are no final goodbyes.
