Sherry and family,
I will always remember Dr Crasilneck with fondness and admiration. He was a thoughtful, precise and caring professional, but most importantly he was a giant of a man. I will miss him terribly.

Harold was a terrific role model for me. He was always generous in his support and guidance in my teaching/consulting activities , especially with residents and attending staff, at a large teaching hospital. His passion and energy were truly inspirational to all professionals who met him.

What an inspiring scholar, clinician, teacher, and gentleman (in all the best meanings of the word) was Harold! What a dedicated husband he was to his wife, Sherry, a classy, brilliant, talented, beautiful, and gentlewoman in her own right. As a society, his hypnotic practices and contributions will be forever advanced by his work. As friends, we were blessed personally and professionally by both of these remarkable people. Sherry, our love, care and prayers go out to you for the large hole left in you life for your "larger than life" husband. I trust that in trance or out, you will sense his love and connection to you as he watches over you.

We just heard of Harold's passing and immediately felt the loss of such a dear friend, a 'brother', valued mentor and colleague. We so enjoyed each others' family and all the wonderful memories of our many years of teaching together. We so enjoyed hosting Harold for the Distinguished Visiting Professor Programs at the Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center. Harold and Sherry were inseparable always and even now forever. You both helped me through the loss of a spouse, and now Nancy and I reach out with our thoughts and prayers to Sherry in this difficult time. Early on, Harold was such a tough task-master when I took my ABPH Boards! But after that the fun began- the Dallas Summer Musicals, the "automatic writing", and so many 'hypnotic' adventures. Harold was a 'one of a kind' - what a legacy he leaves for all of us. We feel blessed for having shared a part of Harold and Sherrys' life in so many ways.

The loss of Dr. Crasilneck leaves a vacumn in our profession. I was privileged to have him at the first ASCH workshop I attended 12/1999 in Tampa. He not only taught me but inspired me with his knowledge and especially his enthusiasm for the art and science of using clinical hypnosis. Since then his teachings both at workshops and on videos have helped me to grow personally and professionally. He will be sorely missed.

Dear Sherry and family: I am deeply saddened and feel a keen sense of loss upon hearing of Dr. Crasilneck's death. The many nuggets of hypnotic expertise he shared during numerous ASCH workshops have helped hundreds of my patients over the years, as now they help my granddaughter during her painful final battle with leukemia. He will be missed. With deepest sympathy, Pat Donly

Dr. Crasilneck actually saved my life in 1992 when I underwent his “Bombardment Technique” for severe intractable chronic pain. His inspiration led me to a mid-life career change that is ongoing as I complete my PhD in Clinical Psychology. Of course, I am an avid member of ASCH and hope, in my own small way, to continue his work on the use of hypnosis in chronic pain management. Thank you Harold, I will miss seeing you at the meetings.

Dear Sherry and Family,
Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss. I had the opportunity to meet and be taught by Dr. Crasilneck at two of the national ASCH meetings. He was generous with his time, knowledge and spirit. I will certainly miss him and hope he is now experiencing the joy of possibly learning the answers to everything he didn't already know (including how deeply he touched so many humans while he was here).

It is with a heavy heart that I learned of Dr. Crasilneck's passing. I remember him as a gentleman who made his work look so simple. At one workshop I asked him how he managed to so effectively create anaesthesia with a volunteer. His answer: "he's just a good subject". I will not forget this kind humble man and his stetson.

My life was forever changed at the Intro Medical Workshop that Harold and Jim Hall conducted at Newport Beach Hotel in November, 1973.
The use of hypnosis in my General Practice influenced my relationships to patients in general, and its specific use in obesity, quitting smoking, and as a powerful alternative to tranquilizers was crucial to success in many cases.
I considered Harold to be my "hypnotic father."
He will be missed by countless of us who have been so influenced by him.

I believe I was the last individual to receive the AJCH Crasileck award during his lifespan. While I was not privileged to meet Dr. Crasilneck in person, I would like to transmit my gratitude for his contributions and continue to know him through his work. He was clearly a towering figure and cherished man.

Dear Shery and Family,
We were very saddened to hear of Harold's passing. He was a wonderful man and you were a wonderfully devoted couple- a true inspiration to all of us.
I always enjoyed time with Harold. He was not only the consummate professional and mentor to many of us, but he was a true gentleman- gentle in every way and as powerful as they come. He described himself as a cowboy and I will always think of him that way- like the picture you painted for your Christmas card, Shery. He was like a 2nd Dad to me. I will miss him greatly.
I will be keeping you, Shery and your family in my prayers and thoughts.
With love and sympathy

Like so many colleagues in the field of professional clinical hypnosis, I count Dr. Harold Crasilneck was one of my models. Indeed, two decades ago he was the lead faculty member in my first class in hypnosis. I still remember his calm assurance, and the gracious way he introduced his dear "associate", Sherry. It seemed to me that when he presented at professional meetings, she was always at his side, or very close by. They were a team, but he could be a remarkable soloist. Over the years, as colleagues told stories of his clinical acumen, and devotion to his patients, my images of him expanded. He was like a rock with an old fashioned light house; reliable, always visible, setting a course, and immensely helpful. As the current president of the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis, I speak for the members of our organization who join me to wish support to his family and multitudes of friends. May his memory give them strength.

Harold was one of the finest men I worked with. We worked together while I was with the FBI, and he was one of the best bureau approved hypnotherapist. He was very talented and a total professional. Countless cases were assisted by his abilities to hypnotize witnesses thus enabling them to recall vital details in the case. I will always have the greatest respect and the fondest memories of our time together.
