News Death Notice

CHANEY, Donald Eugene "Gene" 62 of Tipp City, Ohio passed away Wednesday February 16, 2011 at Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy, Ohio following a brief illness. Born April 26, 1948 in Troy, Ohio to Donald E. and Nadine {Graham} Chaney. Gene was a Vietnam War veteran proudly serving in the Unites States Army, a member of the West Charleston Church of the Brethren, American Legion Post #586, Tipp City as a past Post Commander, and a charter member of the Tipp City Emergency Services. He was an avid golfer and loved spending time on the links. Gene recently retired from Meijer in Beavercreek as a grocery store manager. He is preceded in death by his father; Donald Chaney in 1987. He leaves behind his loving wife; Linda {Shoup} Chaney, two sons; Donnie and his wife Holly Chaney, Andrew Chaney and his fiancée Aphton Putnam, both of Tipp City, mother; Nadine Chaney, brothers; Ronnie and his wife Diane Chaney, Lonnie Chaney, all of Tipp City and Tim and his wife Richelle Chaney, Springfield, Ohio and granddaughter; Kennedy Chaney. Service 10:30 AM on Monday February 21, 2011 at the West Charleston Church of the Brethren, Northeast corner of State Routes 571 and 202, Tipp City, Pastor Burton Wolf officiating, burial to follow in Miami Memorial Park, Covington, Ohio. Visitation 4 to 8 PM Sunday at FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME 327 W. Main St. Tipp City, Ohio 45371. I worked with Gene at the Harshman Road Meijer a few years ago . I now live out of state & just heard of his passing . Gene was a great boss & a great friend...a true , genuine person , that i will NEVER forget !!

Linda, Donnie & Andrew, I just heard of Genes passing and I am so sorry. Hope you are all doing as well as you can and know that Gene is with God now. He is at peace and you know he and his dad are playing nine holes.

Gene was our best man at our wedding and he always went out of his way to make me feel a part of the family. I hold a lot of respect for this wonderful man and for you Linda and the boys. We will miss him so much.
