Loved sitting with her at competitions. She had great insight to skaters programs and constructive criticism. So many skaters benefited from her generosity and advice. She was a mentor to many.

Helen was a great giving person who touched so many. Sharing the name McLoraine has given a great sense of pride and enjoyment in the achievements of those she supported. We were very honored that she attended our wedding nearly ten ago now. She ordered a genealogy search for me knowing that we shared that hobby.

We remember Helen with fondness and love. She attended our wedding, (even in a December snowstorm!) and her generosity enabled us to purchase our first house. It saddens us that our new son will know her spirit and joy only through our memories.

I will always remember Helen as one of the great people in skating. She has done so very much for the sport and we surely will all miss her so much. Doris

I have known Helen's mother Cousin Mabel and then Cousin Helen for more than 55 years as they lived across the street from us growing up and then after they moved when we would go for visits. Her mother was a class act as was Cousin Helen. A wonderful sense of humor. I remember at a family wedding on a cool fall Minnesota day, I was driving Cousin Helen in an old restored 1948 Packard which caught on fire and began to smoke. We both got out rather quickly-Cousin Helen more gracefully and with more equipoise than I and then she chuckled over "how the weather in the car had certainly turned hot". She will be sorely missed.

We have lost an incredible friend. One minute Helen was there in her seat at the arena doing what she loved to do--watching those young people out on the ice in pursuit of their dreams. Dreams she helped many to achieve. The next minute she was taken from us. Her loss leaves a void in the figure skating family, but her legacy will continue in those she helped and inspired.

Our family enjoyed when Helen would come and stay with us during her visits to Chicago. We were her "date" for many University of Chicago functions and we would have such a grand time. My children enjoyed spending many hours talking and laughing with her. Our family has a yearly reunion Memorial Day weekend at the family cemetary in Dayton Illinois and Helen always enjoyed visiting with the extended family. Helen always helped me cook for the potluck lunch that was served at the reunion. We shared many a faux pas in the kitchen. We will miss her visits, her laughter, the twinkle in her eyes. But now she will be closer to us and we can visit her more now.

It is hard to imagine what skating would have been without Helen's emotional and financial support of so many of our top skaters in the past and present.

My husband and I were fortunate to be at breakfast with her just hours before her untimely death.

Helen was engaged in the delicious task of enjoying fulfilling other's dreams. She was a sentient lady.

Helen was and still is a great inspiration to many people. Her work with sponsering young figure skaters, as well as her work with other chairities speaks highly of her devotion to mankind. Over the years I've read hundreds of articles on skating and she's tied in to a huge percentage. So for that I thank her as a fan of the sport! God Bless you, Helen! :)

Helen had an enormous impact on my life. She gave me strength just knowing that she believed in me. Recently, I wrote to tell her how special she was and that I named the "Lady with the Parasol" after her. (I bought that Monet painting with the wedding gift Helen gave us) To me the "Lady with the Parasol" is beautiful, passionate, and angelic, and will forever be "Helen."

Helen, was one of the finest people, I have ever known. Never did she think of herself, she only thought of giving to others. Her joy in life was in giving, never expecting any return for herself. It was a true pleasure to be a friend, and an honor to be in her company. She will be greatly missed by so many people of all walks of life.
