Be Still
Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.
Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.
If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

My condolences to all of Chuck's loved ones. Although I never met Chuck in person, he freely shared some of his life experiences and wisdom with me and hundreds of others via the Internet. For the past two years Chuck was a valued member of two online support groups for mounted search and rescue volunteers.

Hilarie, Eric, and Erin- Your husband and father was one of my favorite cousins. I recall many trips to Ottawa and his trips to the mountains of NC. Chuck was very much into the outdoors. I will always remember the great times we had. Susan and I will miss him very much. He offered us much comfort and family memories when our dad (uncle Hal) passed last August. I'm sorry we will not be able to attend the service. Please accept our prayers.

Erin & Eric - I was so surprised, and so sorry to hear of your Dad's death...I was shocked! We had a lot of good times playing raquetball at Medlaw, and having a drink at the Pig. I'll miss him.
I know he was proud of both of you.
My condolences to you, as well, Hillary, even tho we never met.

I want to extend my deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Chuck and especially to my dear friend Hilarie at this painful time. I first met Chuck on the day he and Hilarie were married. On later visits to their home in Utica I discovered that Chuck was not only a kind and generous host but a wonderful cook. The shock of his unexpected death and the empty space it leaves in the lives of those who knew him is hard to comprehend. May the passing of time fill that space with many loving memories of the man that he was - husband, father and friend.

It has come as a great sadness to hear of the passing of Chuck and to imagine the great loss this is to his family and all who knew him and loved him. Hilarie has been my dear friend since 1974. I was so thrilled when she and Chuck were married and I had the true pleasure of attending the wedding. From my distant home in Washington State, my thoughts and wishes extend to those who will memorialize Chuck and feel the pain of losing his presence. I wish peace to all of you and I encircle Hilarie with my fondest loving support.

Eric and Erin,
Larry and I are deeply sorry about the death of your father. All of you are in our prayers. I know how very proud he was of both of you and all of your accomplishments. We apologize that we will not be able to attend the visitation or service. I will get both of your addresses from your mother. Lean on each other and remember above all things, God loves you and so do we.
