Charles J. "Farmer" Ditrich, age 64, passed away Thursday morning, October 1, 2015, after a brief battle with cancer.
He resided in Harborcreek Township. He was born in Erie on June 7, 1951, son of the late John C. Ditrich, Sr. and Margaret Vincent Ditrich.
Charles graduated from Erie's Cathedral Prep High School and worked many jobs during his lifetime, but his main passion was farming. Making hay for horses, or bringing up logs for firewood on his tractor always brought a smile to his face. Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking on the grill, gardening and anything that gave him a reason to have a party. He also was an avid Cleveland Browns fan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John C. Ditrich, Jr. and a sister Kathleen M. Ditrich.
He is survived by his sister, Susan M. Ditrich of Millcreek Township and two nephews, Vincent Hunter Ditrich and Jay A. Ditrich, both of Harborcreek Township, and many friends.
As to Farmer's wishes, funeral services and burial are private. The G. R. Bailey Funeral Home, 4396 Iroquois Ave., Lawrence Park, handled funeral arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Regional Cancer Center, 2500 W. 12th St. Erie, PA 16505.

So sorry to hear of Farmer's passing. He always cracked me up...lots of laughs. Every time I make a rhubarb pie I'll think of you, since you gave me my plants. I hope you and Susie find each other again in heaven...you always were just right together.

My brother Dan and I had the honor to meet and become friends with Farmer in Edinboro during the 1970s and it was a joy to be in his company. Sadly we lost touch. He will be remembered as a kind and fun loving person. May he R.I.P.

May the Lord comfort you at this time. Charlie was a great friend growing up & we had some fun times. Even working with your Dad gathering fire wood taught me some good life lessons. God bless!
