Speers Funeral Chapel

"Mr. George Speers purchased the undertaking business from the general merchants ""Marshall & Boyd,” and opened Speers Funeral Home on South Railway Street on April 1, 1907. Over the next two decades, the funeral home was moved to the seventeen hundred block of Hamilton Street and then to 1867 Rose Street. In 1962, the funeral chapel moved to its present location at 2136 College Avenue. Mr. Speers retired in the mid-nineteen fifties and the funeral chapel continued to operate under the management of Mrs. Speers and her brother Ray Sprowl. Due primarily to failing health, the funeral chapel was sold in 1980 to three long-time employees, Mr. Ron MacFarlane, Mr. Ron McEachern and Mr. Robert Hanson. In November of 2004, the funeral home was purchased by Todd Lumbard. Todd, his wife Kerry, and their three children, moved from Brandon to Regina and are actively involved in the community. Todd has been in funeral service for over 20 years; he and his brother Wade continue to own and operate Brockie Donovan Funeral Home in Brandon, and Cropo Funeral Home in Winnipeg in partnership with John Leggat. As the needs and wishes of families in Regina and area have changed, Speers Funeral Chapel has continually evolved to meet those needs. Speers offers complete cremation services and is a participating partner in Community Crematorium, located in the heart of the old Regina Cemetery. Speers Family Centre at 2333 Cornwall Street has been completely renovated and beautifully decorated for funeral receptions and services. Speers Funeral Chapel has been privileged to serve generations of families in Regina and southern Saskatchewan. We deeply appreciate the confidence and trust that has been placed in our people and in the service we have provided. Everyone at Speers is committed to providing exceptional service at a reasonable price. Throughout North America, Speers is recognized as a premier funeral service provider and is a member of Selected Independent Funeral Homes, an invitation-only membership that is extended to only the best of the best. As the only privately owned, full service funeral chapel serving Regina and area for over a century, we look forward to the next millennium and will continue to provide services that families have come to expect and appreciate. We truly are hometown friends you can rely on."
We encourage you to contact the funeral home to verify time and location before attending services or visitation.
