ADRIAN E. KINARD (1989 - 2015)

Adrian Esau Kinard, known as “AK”, was born on February 5, 1989 at Providence Hospital in Washington, DC to Cynthia and Ben Kinard. He spent the majority of his lifetime with his mother and Joseph Sharps, Sr. Due to a senseless and heartless act of street violence, Adrian departed this journey at the age of 26, on Friday morning, July 17, 2015.

Adrian was educated mostly through the District of Columbia Public School System. He attended Brookland Elementary, Bertie Backus Junior High School, Chopticon High School in Morganza, Maryland and graduated from Spingarn High School in Washington, DC in 2008. Adrian, a borne athlete, had the honor of playing at the Nationals’ Ballpark in the Congressional Bank Baseball Classic in May 2008 and received numerous athletic awards which included, MVP 2007 and 2008, Baseball All Star Team, 2008, Most Dedicated in Varsity Basketball, 2004-2005, All DC in Football, 2008, All American Scholar, 2004-2005, and 3rd Place Champion Track Meet, 2008. Adrian attended Indiana Institute of Technology in Fort Wayne, IN during 2008-2010. The borne athlete was also known for watching the sports he enjoyed as well as playing the sports he loved with treasured family and friends. The Oakland Raiders fan was gifted on Father’s Day with a ticket to go to Oakland, CA with his Uncle Al and “adopted brother” Albert in October. Oh, but we must not forget his love for the New York Knick’s.

Prior to his employment as a Special Police Officer/Security Guard for Code 3 Security & Protection Services, Inc. for the past year, Adrian attended the Capital City Public Safety Training Academy in 2014 and obtained certifications in the following: Oleoresin Capsicum, Tactical Handcuffing, and Tactical Baton. In addition, Adrian worked as a Security Guard at Prince George’s Hospital, Mail Courier for the United States Post Office, Stocker at Walmart, Restaurant Associate at the Kennedy Center, Service Clerk at Giant Food, and Office Administrator for Court Service and Offender Supervision (CSOSA) agency. Adrian often shared his life experiences and most knew his long term goal was to become a Prince George’s County Police Officer. Adrian’s strongest desire to pursue this career was a result of the death of his brother, who was shot and killed five years ago – another senseless and heartless act of street violence.

In addition to his athletic abilities, Adrian who was talent show winner in 2007, enjoyed music and released his first single, “Stay Fresh to Death”, in March 2006. He continued pursing his music career and released his 1st CD, “Gold Rollie” in August 2012 located at: soundcloud. During his leisure time you would find Adrian spending time with his daughters, especially the love of his life, and pride and joy, Ariyanna, playing basketball and PlayStation with his brothers and Uncle Al, and spending any available time with family members. Adrian had a very strong sense of family. He was a loving father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, relative and friend.

Among all of his accomplishments, the greatest was the birth of his daughter Ariyanna Kinard. He was a proud father to say the least. When Ariyanna was just 2 months old Adrian would bring her to visit his extended immediate family, 60 miles from home, on his own. He took pride in being there for his daughter, teaching her new things, and providing for her. Majority of his spare time was spent hanging out with her and embracing his newfound parenthood. He was very excited for Ariyanna and his 'niece' Elaina to grow up together in the way that he and his 'brother and sister' grew up, and in just a short week the girls would have enjoyed their first beach experience in Myrtle Beach together.

Blessed with a jovial personality, a sense of humor, an indomitable spirit, and principled integrity, he radiated joy, friendship, compassion, and cheerfulness to his family, relatives and friends. Whenever Adrian entered the room it was filled with love, joy, and happiness. He was just that kind of guy who would always embrace everyone and leave a smile on your face. To know him….was to love him!!
