John William "Getch" Goettsche

McHENRY – John William "Getch" Goettsche, 63, of McHenry, passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2012, at the Hospice of Northeastern Illinois Inpatient Unit in Woodstock.
John was born April 2, 1949, in Chicago, the son of William H. and Beata A. (Wich) Goettsche.
John was a lifetime resident of McHenry. On Nov. 22, 1975, at Bethany Lutheran Church, Crystal Lake, he married Peggy Kufahl.
John loved spending time with his family and friends, enjoyed golf, boating and sitting by the Fox River watching the water float by.
He was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. One of the founding members of "CAL," Committee at Large volunteers group, the Viscounts Drum and Bugle Corps 1960 to 1971.
John graduated from McHenry High School in 1967 and Southern Illinois University in 1971. John had worked for GE Capital for 13 years as a document center manager, owned the former McHenry Home Video and HR Green (formerly SEC Group). In 2005, John was one of the parade marshals for Fiesta Days.
He enjoyed spending time with Oscar.
John is survived by his wife, Peggy; daughter, Jennifer (the late Anthony) Schiavone of Johnsburg; son, Nicholas of McHenry; mother, Beata Goettsche of Fort Myers, Fla.; sister, Sandra Goettsche of Leigh Acres, Fla.; brother, Randy (Lisa) Goettsche of Phoenix; and 14 nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, William; paternal grandparents, Harty and Ethel Goettsch; maternal grandparents, Hermann and Louis Wich; and son-in-law, Anthony "Tony" Schiavone.
Memorial visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the time of the services at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Drive, McHenry. Interment will be private.
