Lee Goodman (1931 - 2014)

Lee Goodman, 83, passed away Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, at home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday at The Hills Church of Christ. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Greenwood. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please send contributions, The Harvest at The Hills Church of Christ and The Fort Worth Christian School. Lee was born June 22, 1931, in Stratford to Billie Bryan and Lee Goodman Sr. He was married to Carolyn Colville Goodman for 62 years. Lee grew up in Fort Worth and was a graduate of Abilene Christian College and served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was the manager of the Chamber of Commerce in Taylor and McAllen, and was Executive Director of H.L. Hunt's Life Line Foundation in Washington, D.C., and later became the Executive Director of the Downtown Fort Worth Association. He was chosen as the Outstanding Man of Fort Worth and one of the Five Outstanding Young Texans. He then established Overcash Goodman Enterprises which involved numerous healthcare, retail and construction ventures. Upon his death he was still active in business as the owner of Lee Goodman Investments. Lee was an Elder at the Meadowbrook Church of Christ for 25 years and an active member of The Hills Church of Christ for 35 years. Lee served on the Board of Fort Worth Christian School. He had a Bible Class at his home and office for over 40 years and loved his Bridge Club at The Fort Worth Club. He was preceded in death by sister, Nezabeth Goodman Barnett and brother, Jackie Goodman. Survivors: Wife, Carolyn Goodman; children, Gary Goodman, Greg Goodman and wife, Beverly, Gay Goodman Walters and husband, Kevin; grandchildren, Amanda Gatlin and husband, Garrett, Trevor Goodman and wife, Rachel, Ian Goodman and wife, Sarah, Kevin Beevers and wife, Livia, Kaden Walters, Karaline Walters, Claire Goodman, Kallan Walters, Grant Goodman; great-grandchildren, Liam Gatlin, Luke Goodman, and Lila Gatlin; brother-in-law, Jim Colville and wife, Sarah.
