AHERN, GAIL M. ORTOLEVA On Monday, February 23, 2015, Gail Marie (Ortoleva) Ahern, 76, of Guilford, formerly longtime resident of West Haven and Branford, passed away peacefully in Yale New Haven Hospital. Gail was born March 25, 1938 in New Haven, daughter of the late James and Adele (Boynwick) Ortoleva. Beloved sister of James Ortoleva and his wife Bette of Wallingford, PA, her twin, Joyce Erff and her husband Charles of Orange, CT, and David Ortoleva and his wife Kathy of New Haven, CT. Gail was like a second mom and adored by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Gail received many awards in the thirty-seven years she worked as a paraprofessional at Sheridan Magnet School in New Haven. Gail’s loving family, as well as her extended family, made up of many close friends, will miss her dearly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. George Catholic Church, 33 Whitfield St, Guilford on Saturday, May 9th at 10 am. A private burial will be held on May 11th at St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, PO Box 1000, Memphis, TN 38105. COPPOLA, ANTHONY ( TONY ) J. Thursday, February 27, 2015 in Yale New Haven Hospital, Anthony J. “Tony” Coppola longtime resident of Madison passed away. He was the beloved husband of 63 years to Gloria Rocco Coppola. Anthony was born October 26, 1937 in New Haven, son of the late Gennaro and Nellie Zawacki Coppola. He was the loving father of Debra Walsh of Wallingford and Laurie Coppola of Madison. Brother of Robert Coppola of North Branford, Rosalie (the late Anthony) Migliozzi of Hamden and Gerald (Romana) Coppola of Madison and also survived by two grandchildren, Ashley Walsh (Corey) Andrews, William (Billy) Walsh, two great grandchildren, Nico and Harper Andrews; along with a large extended loving family of cousins, nieces and nephews. Mr. Coppola served in the Navy from 1955-1959 and was stationed in Jacksonville, Florida. He was honorably discharged as a First Class Petty Officer. Upon his return to Connecticut, he was the co-owner along with James Dawson of the CT Painting Contractors. He was also a long time member of the Westbrook Elks Lodge #1784. Tony was a compassionate and generous man who was committed to the well being of his family and friends. He exhibited a special devotion to his two grandchildren and absolutely adored his two great - grandchildren. His genuine caring spirit will carry forward through the meaningful impact he made on their lives. Family and friends may call prior to Mass on Tuesday, Mar 3 from 9 – 10:30 am at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Margaret RC Church, 29 Academy St, Madison on Tues. Mar 3 at 11am. Burial with Military Honors will follow Mass in Evergreen Cemetery, Green Hill Rd, Killingworth. MALTESE, PERRY FRANCIS Perry Francis Maltese, born April 7, 1993, loving son of Allison and Phil Maltese of Guilford, died Friday, February 20, 2015. Perry was a 2011 graduate of Guilford High School and an honors student at Roger Williams University. He was passionate about music and was a talented guitarist. His creativity and unique sense of humor came out in many ways – he composed songs, wrote poems, drew cartoons and treated skateboarding like an art. Perry was also a giving person who set time aside to help others through various charities. Known for his gentle spirit, he was a loving child and a friend to many. In addition to his parents, Perry leaves his grandmother, Florence H. Marrone of Killingworth. He will also be dearly missed by his cousins, aunts and uncles. Friends may call Saturday, February 28 from 3 to 6 pm at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St. Guilford. Dolores Irene "Mingah" Quinlivan born on September 23, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY. Dolores passed away peacefully March 1st at Connecticut Hospice in Branford surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Francis "Frank" Michael Quinlivan, loving mother to Michael Quinlivan (Kelley) of Naples, Florida; the late Irene "Bwana" Quinlivan of Bridgeport, CT; Margot Sherwin (Richard) of Guilford, CT; James "Jimmy" Quinlivan (Dolores)of Madison, CT; Julie Gaffney (John) of Barrington, RI. Also survived by grandchildren Sarah, Kevin, the late Cindy Sherwin, Jeffrey, Jessica, Lauren, Julie, Chelsea, Tyler, Jennifer, Maeve, Clare and Quinn as well as 10 great grandchildren. Dolores and Frank raised their family in Fairfield CT and she lived out her later years in Goshen and Redding, CT.
"Mingah "was a graduate of Saint Joseph's College for Women in Brooklyn, NY and received her master's degree in Early Childhood Development from Columbia University in New York City. Dolores was always the picture of elegance and sophistication perfectly coiffed and impeccably dressed. She enjoyed the arts, antiquing and the occasional dirty martini. Her deep close relationships with her family and friends were the crowning achievement of her life. Her deeply rooted (Irish) Catholic faith always served as her compass.
How does she do it? "Good living sister, good living!!!"
Friends may call Wednesday, Mar 4 from 5 – 8 pm at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. George Church, 33 Whitfield St, Guilford on Thurs. Mar 5 at 10 am. Burial will be held privately at a later date in Goshen, CT.
