ASHBY, MARY ELIZABETH, 90 of Woodstock, GA, died Thursday, March 29, 2012 at her home following a brief illness.

Mrs. Ashby was born September 24, 1921 in Centertown, KY to the late Arl Benjamin and Nola Tate Ward. She was a charter member of Grace Tabernacle. Mary graduated from Centertown High School, she worked in the Centertown Post Office, then moved to Louisville, where she married Roy Ashby in 1947. She was a lingerie buyer for Selmens Department store and retired from Stewarts Department store as a hosiery buyer.

In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Ashby; daughter, Donna Mullins; and three brothers.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, R. Douglas and Deborah Ashby; Grandchildren, Melissa Hester (Danny), Brian Ashby (Aubrey), Mark Ashby and Joshua Ashby; great-grandchildren, Andrew Hester, Heather Ashby, Emma Ashby and Elijah Ashby all of Woodstock, GA.; sister, Arlene Yount of Shelbyville, KY.; sister-in-law, Beverly Ward of Bowling Green, KY.; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loving friends.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2012 in the Chapel of J. B. Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Louisville Memorial Park, Rev. Mark Jackson will officiate. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 from 4-8 p.m. at J. B. Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home and Wednesday, April 4, 2012 from 10 a.m. until service time.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to American Cancer Society or a Humane Society of your choice.
