James Hogan Obituary

James Arthur Hogan

1936-2013 BENNINGTON James Arthur Hogan 76, a resident of Denver, Colo., died unexpectedly January 11, 2013 at his home in Denver.

Born in Bennington May 17, 1936, he was the son of the late James Edward and Aurelia (Rousseau) Hogan. Art received his early education at St. Francis de Sales Academy and was a 1954 graduate of Bennington High School.

A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, Art served from 19541957. Following his discharge Art entered the Vermont State Police Academy and served several years with the state police prior to moving to Denver. He later served for many years as a deputy in the Denver County Sheriff's Department until his retirement in 1999.

Survivors include his wife, MaryAnn Hogan of Denver; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Julie Hogan of Middlebury and Timothy and Gail Hogan of Aurora, Colorado; four grandchildren, Tyler, Ryan, Calvin, and Glenn; a brother and sister-in-law, John J. and Jean Hogan of Osewego, N.Y.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosemary H. and Ronald Lindsey of Shaftsbury and Karen and Malcolm King of Cincinnati, Ohio; an uncle, Jospeh Corcoran of Bennington; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Art was predeceased by a daughter, Elizabeth (Beth) Hogan.

Graveside committal services will be held in the Spring at the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery at a time to be announced.

Should friends desire memorial contributions may be made to either VNA & Hospice of SVHC or to Bennington Project Independence through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
