James Clifton Thomas Sr., 87, Lebanon, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at Spring View Hospital, Lebanon.
He was born Feb. 26, 1925 in Marion County. Thomas was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, a retired farmer and Lebanon businessman and a Kentucky Colonel appointed by Gov. Wendell Ford.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Della Mae Mattingly Thomas; his parents, John Leonard and Margaret Abell Thomas; a great-granddaughter, Maggie Grace George; four sisters, Mary Ola Rawings, Justine Russell, Pauline Spalding and Eunice Thomas; and two brothers, Monroe and Joseph Leon Thomas.
Survivors include: three sons, Jimmy (Paula) Thomas and John (Beverly) Thomas, both of Lebanon, and Kevin (Eileen) Thomas of Louisville; three daughters, Pam (Mike) Mattingly of Lexington, Ann Carol Blair of Louisville and Deb (Dennis) Brock of Clarksville, Ind.; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, L.A. Thomas of Port Charlotte, Fla. and Cyril Thomas of Lebanon.
A funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, at St. Augustine Catholic Church with interment in the church cemetery. Rev. Chris Rhodes officiated and Deacon Joe Dant assisted.
Active pallbearers were Michael Mattingly, Stephen Blair, Sam Mudd, Matthew Thomas, Shawn Blair, and Dennis Brock Jr.
Honorary pallbearers were Lori Roution, Eliot Blair, Megan Blair, Tessa Greene, Andrea George, Julie Lally, Angeline Brock, Jessica Daniel, and Caroline Thomas.
Bosley Funeral Home, Lebanon, was in charge of arrangements.
