Mary Elizabeth Hughes

a.k.a. Mary E. Lamey a.k.a Mary E. Quirk Resident of Los Gatos, CA Mary died after a year long battle with bile duct cancer on April 8, 2010 at the age of 63. She loved life and lived it to the fullest as a self-proclaimed Renaissance Lady with broad interests in travel, literature, theater, movies, dogs, wine, cooking and the law. An attorney, she had been the Chief Administrative Law Judge for the Arizona Department of Real Estate (1990-95). Most of all, she loved her family. Mary is survived by her loving husband, Patrick Lamey of 13 years; her children, Timothy of Tucson, AZ, Daniel of Lebanon, PA and her daughter, Lara (Brisbane) and son-in-law, Scott Brisbane of Pasadena, CA. Mary is also survived by Patrick's children, Erika Lamey of New York and Christopher Lamey and his spouse, Casey (Kathryn Bertram), of Denver. Mary has three grandchildren and two step-grand-children Madelyn, Emma, Charlize, Danny and Sarah. Mary's only living sibling is Maureen (Reenie) Engstrom of Hermantown, MN and Patrick's siblings, Sister Maureen Lamey CSJ of St. Paul and Daniel J. Lamey of Chandler, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents Alberta (Davis) and John Quirk and her sister, Jean Ann. Mary moved to Los Gatos in 1995 from Scottsdale, AZ and for the past ten years has served as a volunteer chair of numerous working committees for Silicon Valley Habitat for Humanity, most recently as Family Selection Chair. Mary was born in St Paul, MN and moved to Arizona in 1972. She is a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy (1965), College of St. Benedict (1969) and Arizona State University School of Law (1985). A Remembrance of Mary will be held Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. at O'HALLORAN & MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 575 South Snelling Avenue, St. Paul, MN (651-698-0796). Contributions in her honor for scholarship funds for the College of St. Benedict in lieu of flowers would be appreciated by her family.
