Jack Morrison Vawter

VAWTER, JACK MORRISON, 93 of Louisville, died Friday, April 27, 2012 at his residence.

He was a retired director of systems for the Old Louisville and Nashville and CSX Railroads where he worked for 45 years. Jack was a flight instructor for Kentucky Flying Service, an Army veteran of World War II where he was a tank commander in the Battle of the Bulge, a member of Midland Trail Golf Club where he had two holes in one, a member of the University of Louisville Honor Society and University Club and Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Peggy Abell Vawter; nieces, Jackie Coble, Beverly Mattingly and Dr. Margaret Rose Stone; and a nephew, Kendall Stone.

A Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 501 Cherrywood Road. Cremation will follow. Visitation: 3-8 p.m. Monday at Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home 3711 Lexington Road.
