Caroline Newkirk Obituary

Caroline Ann Newkirk, 85 of Merrimack, NH and a former longtime resident of Hollis, NH passed away peacefully on Monday June 20, 2022 at Bedford Falls in Bedford, NH peacefully after a period of declining health.

She was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 3, 1937 the daughter of the late Joseph and Sidonie Christensen. After graduating from James Madison High School, Caroline worked on Wall Street for a few years until she married David D. Newkirk in 1959 and had a family. Caroline devoted herself full time to raising her family. She would tell you Dave was more work to take care of than her kids. In 1972, the family moved to Hollis, New Hampshire, where Caroline established new friendships that she would maintain for the rest of her life. After Dave retired in 1993, he and Caroline became snowbirds, spending winters at their home at the Spruce Creek Fly-In Community in Port Orange, Florida, again establishing

new friendships that she would maintain for the rest of her life. She was a resident of Hollis for 31 years

before moving to Merrimack in 2004.

Caroline was a member of St. Luke's Anglican Church in Amherst, NH.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by a brother Thomas Christensen.

Members of her family include her husband of 63 years, David D. Newkirk of Merrimack, NH; a son David D. Newkirk Jr. of Brunswick, ME; daughter and son in-law, Pam and Steven Patterson of Merrimack, NH; two grandchildren, Anastasia Newkirk of Natick, MA and Zachary Newkirk of Holliston, MA; daughter in-law, Olga-Maria Newkirk of Holliston, MA; sister and brother in-law Dorothy and Bobby DePasca of Brooklyn, NY and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held at the Rivet Funeral Home, 425 Daniel Webster Hwy, Merrimack, NH Sunday June 26, 2022 from 4-7 pm. The funeral service will be held Monday June 27 at 1:30 PM at the Rivet Funeral Home. Burial will follow in East Cemetery in Hollis, NH.

Dear Uncle Dave, David, Pamela and family.

I am so sorry to hear, that my loving Aunt, your mom has passed away, she always had a smile and a kind word. I remember the holidays at our Grandmothers house on East 15th St in Brooklyn, all of us sitting together at the table my Dad tell stories, your mom laughing.
And now they are together again, I pray for strength and healing as you grieve the loss of such a wonderful caring, Mother. And so I pray for her and My Dad and Mom and my little sister Mary, they are together
May eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Dear Dave,

We are sad to learn of Caroline's passing--our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. She was always so gracious and pleasant the times we did meet, once in Spruce Creek, another time at the Mt. Sunnapee Craft Fair a few years ago. Both fun times we will never forget. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you both forever.

Dear Dave, I am saddened to learn of the passing of your wonderful wife, Caroline. She and I had numerous conversation during our “Delta” years. She had a kind word for everyone, but I will mostly remember her
for her great sense of humor. She could bring a laugh to most any conversation.
You have both been blessed to have shared so many great years together.
May she Rest In Peace.
I am sorry for your loss Dave
