Virginia L. (McGuire) Forbes

Forbes, Virginia L. (McGuire) age 80, of Bloomington, formerly of Edina, died January 5, 2011. Preceded in death by her husband, William D. Forbes Jr.; parents, Dr. Charles C. McGuire and Virginia A. (Watzke) McGuire and brother, Charles C. McGuire Jr. Survived by sons, Douglas M. (Joy) of Afton, MN, Mark C. (Diane) of Minnetonka, MN, David W. of Woodbury, MN, Steven L. (Sandra) of Vienna, VA; 15 grandchildren, Douglas, Charlie, Emily, Ben, Ryan, Nicole, Mara, D.J., Andrew, Robert, Will, Tim, Lauren, Leah, Neil and numerous relatives & friends. Virginia was a 1948 graduate of Washburn High School and MacPhail College of Music and Dramatic Art, 1951, where she was a member of Phi Mu Gamma, a professional fine arts fraternity. She was a charter member and office holder in Mrs. Jaycees of Bloomington, MN. She and her husband, Bill, had a fulfilling family life skiing, camping, fishing and boating. Her private time was taken up with needlework, gardening, music and volunteer services. Virginia was active in the Cub Scouts for several years, she then became active in the Republican Party, where she was Precinct Chairwoman, 5th District Chairwoman, and twice a delegate to the National Republican Convention in 1976 and 1980. She also volunteered at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital for several years. Memorials preferred to Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, 3675 Arboretum Drive, Chaska, MN 55318, or Animal Humane Society of Hennepin County. Interment Lakewood Cemetery. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM Monday, with visitation one hour prior to the Mass at the Church of St. Olaf, 8th St. & 2nd Ave S., Mpls.
