I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Jim. I have known him for more years than I can remember with my Mom (Donna) being there). I spent much time at the law office and Jim always lended and ear to me. I will miss talking to him. Linda Hanson.

To Opal and Jim's Family:

I second what my brother Joe said. We were of course very proud to have Jim on our block, a real lawyer when they weren't so ubiquitous as now. Whenever I rode the bus downtown as a young boy I would always look for Jim's shingle on Broadway and brag to any companion that he was my neighbor. He was always friendly to the pack of kids running down Dupont in front of his house and not very severe when he'd see us cutting thru his backyard during our play. I remember warm get togethers at the Ronnings' to view the slideshow presentation from their latest exotic trip. And, of course, Jim was very helpful to our mother regarding the few legal matters that she confronted in her time. I am also thankful for a number of positive letters of recommendation which Jim wrote for me when I was applying to college. He was a nice guy and an important presence for us young kids growing up at that time. Please accept my condolences for your loss. May he return to his eternal home in peace and bliss.

Opal and Jim's family:

Our family was so fortunate to have Jim and Opal as neighbors in North Minneapolis. We looked up to Jim for many reasons; his intelligence, kindness, and reassuring adult presence....looking back on it, he really did lead by example with his wonderful marriage to Opal and successful legal career. Growing up, we were so proud to know an attorney with offices on Broadway!

Deepest sympathy to you, Opal, and please know what a special place you and Jim will always have in our fondest memories of the old Camden neighborhood!

Peace,

Joe and Renee Gillespie
