To the family of Spc. Arturo Huerta Cruz:
Please know that just as your loved one remains in your hearts and minds; his sacrifice, and that of your family, remains with the people he died defending. Words cannot express the gratitude we feel for his bravery and selflessness, or the heartache we feel for your loss. God bless and keep you always.

He is still in my mind everyday that i am awake, same with all of the battle buddies that served with him. I miss him dearly and will be making a trip down to where he lays his head now. I hope to meet you guys if possible. Thankyou for raising such an awesome person and soldier. Spc. Brady Crook

To The Family: I have never met a soldier that did not want American's to enjoy life and their freedoms on any given day. Likewise, I know that your family will never replace the loss of 'our' hero Spc. Arturo Huerta-Cruz and today is a time for me to let you know, that I am grateful and humbled by his bravery. I will do my part to preserve our American freedoms and I will pray that you will allow God to give you comfort as you make it through each day and that my life will honor his sacrifice. My prayers for our leaders and our country include regaining a moral grounding, much like the guards pledge that protect the grounds of the unknown soldier. With love and humble appreciation!

To the family of Arturo Huerta-Cruz , my name is Jim Vanderbleek and I live in St. Petersburg, Florida. This Memorial Day 2010 I wanted to do something special for the “Fallen Floridians” since 2001. I wanted to honor them in a way that would be a touching tribute in the eyes of the community as a reminder that we must not forget the sacrifice they and their families have given for all of us. A special cross, along with the other 238 fellow Floridian brothers and sisters, was erected on the church grounds of Northeast Presbyterian Church. Your son's cross is on display through June 5th, 2010. The photo attached shows the entire display. The link attached will take you to a slide show in Honor of Brave Men and Women of our Armed Forces. There will be many prayers for your son this weekend as we pay tribute to all of the Fallen Soldiers from 1775 to 2010 during our worship service on Sunday May 30th.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Arturo, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

To the Huerta-Cruz Family -
My condolences are with the entire family.
We all look forward to the fulfillment of the scripture at Psalms 46:9 which reads: 9”He is making wars to cease to the extremity of the earth. The bow he breaks apart and does cut the spear in pieces; The wagons he burns in the fire.”
May the family rely upon the greatest and only source of true comfort. "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those in any sort of tribulation through the comfort with which we ourselves are being comforted by God.” - 2 Corinthians 1:3,4.
I hope the loving memories of Arturo engulf your hearts and minds and keep you moving forward.

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

Dear Family
I am sending my condolences to you along with some words of comfort from God's Word. I know that this brave young man will be dearly missed. My hope is that these words of God will be of comfort to the family and give you the strength to endure. The Bible gives all mankind a hope of a future free of all violence. God promise at Psalm 46:9 is that he will make wars to cease to the extremity of the earth. The Bible also tells us about a "resurrection" hope that he promise to all men in that he raised his only begotten son, Jesus Christ, back from the dead.(Acts 17:31) Jesus Christ himself said at John 5:28,29 "Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out." Therefore we have an assured hope of being reunited with our love ones, in the future, right here on a Paradise Earth free of all violence. I hope that these words of God will bring the family and all a measure of comfort and inner peace in this time of grief.
My Sincere Sympathy

I went to school with Arturo, we weren't best of friends or anything like that... I'd be surprised if he remembered my name. But I definitely remembered who he was. He was always quiet and you never would have guessed he'd end up in the armed forces. I remember asking him a bunch of times what all of the swear words were in Spanish. We had fun, he gave me memories, and best of all he served for our freedom. Best of wishes to all of you who this has affected... he did it for all of us!

Arturo and i attended Countryside High School and were both in the same class in 2003. I had the opportunity to get to know him and realized how good, intelligent, and funny he could be. All who knew him surely knew what a great soul he had. When i found out that he died i couldn't believe that such a smart and talented individual was no longer with us and started to cry knowing the pain his family must be going through. These words may not mean much, but i hope that it helps someone because the truth will set us free.
May the gods end the violence we inflict upon each other.

I can't even find the words...I lost my 19 year old son--5 Sept 2007, Balad, Iraq. I am absolutely devastated and I know that you are too...but find comfort in the fact that we will see our loved ones, our heroes again. Do I wish that I could trade places with my son? ABSOLUTELY not. He is in the arms of our Lord--"And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away" ~Rev 21:4

SPC Huerta-Cruz was a soldier in Foxtrot Co. 82d Chem BN during Basic Training. I was a Drill Sgt during his time there. He was in another platoon but he stood out from the rest of the troopers. I remember talking to him about his upcoming assignment after BCT. To the parents I would like to say that you raised an outstanding son. More over he was an outstanding soldier. He will be missed. Arturo Huerta-Cruz Family,
I am praying for you in the loss of your dear son. Although no words will ever ease your pain, I too want to thank you.
Just as God gave His Son to die on the cross for my sins and to those who call upon His name, you raised and gave a son who was willing and paid the ultimate price to not only keep me and all America free but to also give that hope of freedom to those in foreign lands.
I will always be forever greatful.
