Hello,
We wanted you to know that we will be honoring and remembering your loved one this holiday season. We are sending Care Packages to our deployed troops in his name. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Nathan John Schuldheiss.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families, friends and many others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

Remembering you on your birthday!
I was taping up a package using a recycled box when I noticed the name "NATE" was on the sticker from the original delivery, in all caps. I want to believe that's you saying what's up, and that it's you every time a ladybug shows up. Love you

I was sitting down having lunch today and it dawned on me I hadn't stopped by in awhile. I was remembering our times at Alconbury, I will never forget what you told my parents before PCSing back to the states, the summer while I was back in the states.
I wish we could have met back up but truly thankful this Thanksgiving season that I could count you as one of my closest friends.
Miss you Nathan

Five years brother, but it seems like yesterday we were talking about the future and all the things we were going to do in our lives. Life moves on, but I still think about you every day. It's been five years but it seems like yesterday you were still with us. I've talked to so many people in that time and it's so awesome to share our stories about you together. They are all funny and they always make me smile. I wish you were here. My family wishes you were here. Today in Afghanistan, I took four American flags with me on a mission to honor the sacrifice you, Dave and Tom made on that fateful day. I will ensure those flags make it to your loved ones. I miss you brother. You are gone but never, ever forgotten.

I miss you a ton. I remember being about eight when you introduced me to risk, I was yellow and Tommy was red, you were green I think. We all played until about 2:30 in the morning and it was you and my dad, battling it out to the end. I can't remember who won but I do remember how fun that night was! My brothers and I played Risk a lot after your visit, in fact, my dad and brothers have a six year old game still going, they snapped a photo of the board conditions when they had to call it quits for a bit. I got married this summer and my husband and I have decided to host board game nights--thanks to you I will never lose at Risk! I love you man.

Nate was missed at our 10 year Gonzaga Reunion. He was a great guy in general, and fun to hang out with. Our sophomore year, Nate and his roommate Scott helped me move a hide-a-bed couch into my 3rd floor room in Madonna. Nate never let me forget how heavy that couch was! :) My thoughts and prayers go out to your family.

Nathan, I Thank Mike Handy for the oppertunity to say my goodbye to you for he provided me with this link. I want you to know you were an awesome saxaphone player, ( I spelt that wrong but you know) I never had the chance to tell you, that. I always thought you were always considerate to others, no matter what. You were popular in Alconbury when we were there and i remember, before all of us in the same grade, before we started going to the high school building. We were in Ms. Paynes 6th grade class. " The time has come the walrus said to talk of many things, of shoes and ships and ceiling wax and cabbages and kings and why the sea is boiling hot and weather pigs have wings". I remember that and so does Tanya Destin, who is also serving for our country. Thank you for being so brave.

I thought about you a ton on this day. I remembered back to my community college days and how you encouraged me to go to UC. I miss you, we all do <3

To just hear the news of Nathan's passing flooded my soul of wonderful memories. This sounds a little cheesy but Nathan was my very first "boyfriend"... Now this takes me back to 4th and 5th grade. He was a great friend and will cherish those memories forever. I did reconnect with Nathan in College... He was at Gonzaga in Washington state and I was at the University of Florida. We did get to see each other again. His life and accomplishments brought me joy. He will live on in those he touched. Continued prayers to his family and friends.

Thanks to all of you for remembering Nathan. Our family thinks of him everyday, sometimes remembering how he made us laugh, how he loved us all so completely, and how we miss just being in the same room with him. His love and energy was so fulfilling.
Yesterday I arrived in Pensacola Florida with Carol Crowell, widow of SA Tom Crowell, who tragically died with Nathan. We are spending the week in remembrances of our loved ones. Your kind postings are a reminder we are not alone. Thank you for sharing in Nathan's life and remembering him and our family.

At your reception, I heard someone say "I don't think it's fair to Erin for everyone to say Nathan was A brother to me because she really lost hers." I know why they said it; I felt the same way when I saw a video your fans posted on YouTube. But I can't blame anyone for mistaking you for a brother, you were my first love Nathan! But I'm not mad that you aren't here to see me because I know
THANK YOU for being the best cousin ever and for paving the road for us. I will make it my duty and obligation to....oh my! Your birthday is this month, oh how I miss you you big dope! Please never leave me now that I have found you again, never leave me. I will never let you go again, I promise <3

Nathan, you left me with such a difficult task. You are so much like my dad. I see the impression you left on my baby brothers, and it is the same one you left on me... and I know it came from my dad. Sometimes I get upset with you for being so brave, but then I think, if I ever met a boy half as cool as you I would know that he is who you want for me. I have to be a first now too, and put forth the good example of what it means to be human. I will never let you go you Nathan, please always stay with me because you know what it means to be first!

I'll never forget the time when Mr. Schuldheiss came to Omaha, NE for Nate's memorial service. There was a song playing in the Sports bar we all went to (where we fulfilled some of Nate's final wishes by having drinks in his honor). The name of the song was called "Big Girls Don't Cry" by Fergie. It was pretty ironic because there were about 8-10 of us girls all singing to words and every one of us were crying to the tune. Funny, but every time I hear this song, it reminds me of Nate and his Dad. Anyway, I just wanted to share this picture of my husband and I with Mr. Schuldheiss and wanted everyone to know how special Nathan was/is to our family. My son Kieran just posted something to his site as well. He talks about him every day and really thinks that he's "safe" because of Nate. He actually got hit by a car last year and walked away from it (only to say that Nate saved his life). A little extreme I know but he could be right! To all of Nate's friends and family: Live each day as if it were your last and you can't go wrong. Don't think that you have to wait to do something you really love to do. Nate didn't hesitate and neither should any of us! Nate will always be our HERO and we will remember him in all facets of our lives!
Love,

My name is Kieran James Smith and I am 10 years old. I came home from school today and was doing my homework. My parents were still at work and my brother was at football practice. I have a collage of Nate in my bedroom as a constant reminder of how awesome he was! He was very much like my Dad and was very cool. He was also funny and easy to talk to. He took my brother and I places when Mom and Dad were busy doing other things. He took us to the zoo. It was the best time with Nathan ever! He was a special agent but also very special to me and my family. He was in the war and fought for our freedom and was very brave. I miss him soooo much and not a day goes by that I don't think of him. He lived in our house for many months and we were very thankful that we got to know him in the most personal way. He was very close to all of us. I wish he was still alive and could take us places again. He was a really good man! He will forever be in our hearts and we will cherish the times when he was in our lives! You're somewhere better now and we will always be thinking of you. I can't say goodbye but I can say that you are definitely not forgotten! I love and miss you Nate!

Nate, (call sign Ned)
It's been two years... It seems like it was just yesterday we were in Balad and you were showing me photos of your sister and your precious niece. I think about you, Sham and Mr. Crowell all the time. I pray that your family and loved ones are well. I just wanted to send a quick note to let you know that you are still remembered. You have impacted my life in such a tremendous way. Truth be told I had never known anyone who was on your level of being. You epitomized all characteristics - you were the brains of our operations, as humble as a servant, down to earth like a childhood friend and in better physical shape than most of the active duty (remember when you grew your hair out all the girls said you look like Orlando Bloom :). The thing I find most amazing about you is your out look on life. Your logical thought pattern is something I strive to achieve. I sure do miss you.
Thanks for your service to our nation and your ultimate sacrifice. You will always be my hero.

Nate,
On 1 Nov 2009, the men and women assigned to “The Phoenix”, Joint Base Balad, Iraq, proudly honored you, Tom and Dave. We assembled at the South ECP, the last place on U.S. controlled soil that each of you traveled prior to breaking wire while enroute to your mission. We gathered around our MRAPs and paid tribute to the ultimate sacrifice each of you made on that exceptionally memorable and heartbreaking day. We posted an individual portrait of each of you on each MRAP, as well as a portrait of all three of you on another MRAP, draped with a United States flag. Each member of our team paid tribute to all three of you and reflected on your dedicated service to our country. In addition, your names were proudly mentioned during the Intentions portions of the All Souls Mass. Lastly, one of our team members chose this day to perform his reenlistment ceremony, which was conducted in front of the base memorial bearing your names, and all other fallen heroes that paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving their country. Nate - you will never be forgotten. You and your entire family are in our thoughts and prayers and we stand tall knowing that you’re watching over us as we continue with our mission.
From the men and women of “The Phoenix”, Balad, Iraq.

I'm sorry it has taken me so long to post. I was sitting here tonight drinking and watching movies and for some reason Nate and Dave came to mind. I worked with them at LSA Anaconda for about 3 - 4 months before they were killed. In fact the night of I was supposed to come over to enjoy a BBQ with them. That is one thing I will always remember about Nate. He was smart, relaxed, and good at his job. But he always knew what was important in life. Friends and fun. I truly wish I could have enjoyed that BBq with him and Dave but things don't always work out the way you plan, or would like. I know its late but I'd like to offer my condolances to nate's family. May God bless you and keep you, and may God continue to bless these United States of America and all her Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and CIVILIANS, who go to fight and win her wars.
