David L. Harmon
This Guest Book will remain online until 12/8/2009
I met Dave about 2003 when we were students at Metropolitan State University, in pursuit of our Masters Degrees in Community Psychology. We discussed the challenges of returning to school with much younger students, and Dave spoke to this topic and all others with a robust sense of humor.
In the midst of exchanging stories about being older students and struggles with our disabilities, I discovered he was a minister. We found that we both loved the Lord, and I started calling Dave "Brother Bear."
Brother Bear was one of my email prayer partners and a dedicated prayer warriors. He had an awesome insight into the hearts of people and I consider it a blessing to have had him as my friend.
Sometimes during a difficult week, there would be an email from Dave, inviting his friends to his vacation, via email. He would describe the activities of his and Deb's trip, including the service they received at different venues and whether or not the trip met their expectations, and why.
Some of the challenges they encountered would have made a great movie (Chevy Chase comes to mind). I could envision the places they were at and often laughted at his comments and opinions.
Brother Bear was concerned for his fellow man and woman. His advisement, wit, knowledge and powerful discernment will be missed. He was a very dear man and I thank the Lord for the short time he allowed me to be exposed to this awesome man of God.
It is my prayer that the Lord will continue to bless and keep Deb, his daughter and grandchild. Dave loved his family and I am thankful to be a recipient of the seeds that Brother Bear sowed during the short time he was on this earth.
Warm Regards and Blessings,
wow, this guest book has really been a blessing to me. Thank you for your kind comments. the picture from the 60's was courtesy of Maria. It was Marilyn and David's Wedding reception. Wasn't he handsome. How could she resist him? Haha.. He had the most beautiful green eyes. I'm sorry it didn't work out for them as a family, but I am so glad he came to mine.
Deb,Maria,Kimberly,
What you wrote in the guest book today,Deb, was a salute to David and how he lived his life. I wished I could have supplied you with more stories about David in the 1960's. Sounds to me like David really found out who he was and what his work should be after he married you,Deb. David's life was a life well lived,he touched so many others and will live on in their hearts forever. He used his talents and intelligence well in touching so many lives, obviously with love and compassion. Now David is on to his next adventure, leaving others he reached out to with love and hope that will be helping them with their own work and assisting them in their own journey. Deb Harmon, you are a strong and courageous woman, this is a difficult time of loss, please remind yourself that David will be in your heart forever and his deeds are those of a warrior for humanity. My hope is that you, Deb and Maria,Kimberly will share your strength and love with each other during these days of sadness. You will all celebrate David's life with memories and with your continued journey of living your lives in wonderful ways.
Warmest regards, Heather Henderson Mash
