Herbert Hemann Obituary

STACYVILLE - Herbert J. Hemann, 83, died Wednesday (Nov. 8, 2006) at the Mitchell County Regional Health Care Center in Osage.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville with Monsignor John Hemann and the Rev. David Hemann officiating. Burial will be in Visitation Cemetery in Stacyville.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 10, 2006, at the church, with a rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a Scripture service at 7 p.m.

Herbert Hemann was born on Jan. 12, 1923, in Union Township, Mitchell County, Iowa, to John and Mary (Gerber) Hemann. He was united in marriage to Irene Mueller on Aug. 25, 1948, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Meyer, Iowa. Herbert was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, and a lifetime member of Visitation Church.

He enjoyed farming and hours that were spent in his woodworking shop. Herbert will be remembered for his strong faith, love of his family, work ethic and honesty.

Herbert is survived by his wife, Irene, of Stacyville; children, Vivian (Bart) McDonough, of Kellogg, Minn., Steven, of Moravia, Harvey (Diane), of Stacyville, Susan (Jack) VanLaere, of Rockford, Iowa, Norbert (Marybeth), of Stacyville, Leonard (Carol), of Linden, Iowa, Galen (Audrey), of Rose Creek, Minn., Colette (Steve) Koebrick, of Charles City, Maureen (Duane) Wegner, of Eyota, Minn., Nicholas, of Kasson,Minn., Yvonne (Todd) Braun, of Kasson, Minn., Andrew (Patty), of Stacyville, Delores (Kevin) Koster, of St. Ansgar, and Kathleen (Tim) Bruggeman, of St. Ansgar.

He was preceded in death by son, Adrian; parents, John and Mary (Gerber) Hemann, and two brothers Clarence and Roman.

We will deeply miss Grandpa. He always put everyone else's best interests ahead of his own. He was love by all who knew him. If it was made out of wood, Grandpa could make it for you... and he would. He was our grandpa.
