U.S. VeteranHerbert “Mac” Bohlman died on May 22nd, 2015 at age 79. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa to Herbert & Edna Bohlman on February 8th, 1936. He received his BS degree from Drake University, MBA and JD Law degree from Indiana University. He was married to Mary Elizabeth (Mimi) for over 56 years. Mac Served in the US Navy and retired as a Lt. Commander and then became an attorney and practiced 50 years here in AZ. He was a Professor Emeritus for ASU College of Business for 41 years, along with his teaching he wrote textbooks that are used in multiple universities across the nation. Along with his law practice he served as a Pro Tempore Judge for Maricopa County. But, what mattered most to him was the title of Husband, Dad, and Papa. He is survived by his wife Mary “Mimi” Bohlman, His children Bill Bohlman, Patricia Haught, Mike Bohlman, Laura Roach, son in law Steve Haught, daughter in law, Jennifer Bohlman and son in law John Roach, Jr., his grandchildren Brandon Bohlman, Caitlyn Bohlman, Alyssa Haught, Chase Haught, Andrew Bohlman, John Roach III, Jacob Roach, Jack Roach, Emerson Bohlman and Graham Bohlman and his only great grandchild Carson Mach. Family was not only those he was related too, but anyone he came in contact with over the years.

Mac spent most of his life in Tempe, Arizona and was always very involved in the community. He would say “it is easier to list the organizations we were not involved with than the ones we were.” Both Mac and Mimi were awarded the Don Carlos award for their humanitarian service. Mac was featured in an article in the 80”s titled “A Man Everyone Should Know”. He was a member of Tempe Kiwanis Club for 45 years, served on the Salvation Army Board for 42 years and the American Red Cross. He assisted in the organization of the Tempe Community Council, Tempe YMCA, Tempe Community Action Agency and the Tempe Sister Cities. In his later years, he became very involved in the Shrine. Regardless of all he did, he wrote, “the best thing about my life has been my wife, children and grandchildren.”

His memorial service is June 1st at 12:30 at the Shrine Auditorium at 552 N. 40th St. PHX 85008. In lieu of flowers please send donations to El Zaribah Hospital Travel Fund or Bohlman Scholarship Fund at Drake University in his honor. Arrangements entrusted to Tempe Mortuary, Tempe, AZ.
