Alfred Gerald "Al" Shapiro
On behalf of the Board of Directors and Team at ASA Chicago, we extend our deepest sympathy to the Shapiro Family. Al was a good man and will be missed.
My condolences to the Shapiro family. Knowing Al through the glass industry, he was truly a class act with a great reputation for generosity and willingness to help others.
Many years ago, I ordered a few replacement pieces of glass for my house. I was so impressed that a man with so much going on took the time to help me out. He even helped load the glass into my car on a Sunday morning. I will always remember how caring Al was to his customers, he made us feel more like friends. My thoughts and prayers go out to the Shapiro Family.
My heart goes out to you at this time of great loss. I worked for Al for over 15 years, he was a great mentor and his door was always open. He taught me many things which I have used throughout my life. I will always remember his generosity from little things like picking me up from the airport, helping me get a good deal on a car or big things such as getting me out of a bind. I will never forget his infectious laugh. I was blessed to have known him. -Vern
Al was a mentor and a friend; introduced to me by my father, who were friends and business contemporaries. I will miss our talks. I learned so much from him. Condolences from the Harris family.
