My heartfelt sympathy to the Carrozza Family:
The classical music world lost a great musician on Carmen's passing. He was the grandfather of classical accordion in his performances with world renowned symphonies. The accordion became a respected classical instrument as a result of Carmen's musical achievements.
I was Carmen's student from 1987 to 2010 during my annual visits to New York. Carmen was an outstanding teacher, patiently working to perfect my bellows and finger technique, as well as my understanding of rhythm and harmony. Carmen's unique finger instruction for scales and arpeggios in the left hand opened up a world of musical opportunity for Stradella bass accordionists.
I will always remember Carmen's beautiful smile; it brings back fond memories of my music lessons with Carmen and the wonderful times we had together. I cherish my lessons with Carmen every time I play my accordion.
