Col. Donald R. James (USAF, Ret.)
Uncle Don was a true American hero and an all-around stand-up gentleman. I am thankful to have many good memories from spending time with he and Aunt Dode. He will truly be missed.
We will miss you Uncle Don!
Don was a super person (as well as his wife, Dode) to me and my wife, from the beginning of my pilot life there at Turner AFB, GA, to Beale AFB, CA. We were stationed together about 12 years. What a friend/s. I am so sad to see him gone now, but I do believe he wanted very much to get back with Dode. God Bless Him, and may he rest in peace.
Don and I spent many wonderful hours in the Purdue B-727 simulators together, challenging young people during pilot and flight engineer training sessions. You will be missed, Don! Thanks for sharing your time and experiences with so many people.
Professor James is remembered by all of his students with a smile. I was jumpseating last week with a Boiler and he fondly recalled Don James from 2 decades before.
I loved when he was doing our sims. He was such a fabulous instructor. He shaped many lives of the students passing through Purdue. We all longed for more U2 and SR-71 stories.
Blue Skies, Chris
