Carlton, I am so sorry to hear of your tragic loss. My prayers are with you and your family.
I worked briefly with Dana at Bracken Christian School. She had a smile that would warm your heart and a sweet gentle spirit that was cherished by so many. Praying that your pain of loss is soon replaced with the sweet memories of the times you had together.
Dana and I became classmates in Elgin when we were around 10 years old. She was the first friend I had that had moved to Elgin from somewhere else. I thought it was so neat that she had attended private kindergarten when she was 5, (I had never heard of kindergarten)and therefore was in the same grade as I, though she was a bit too young to be in our class. She was so happy, and so "together", even as a child. She had a keen wit, and saw the humor in just about everything. I remember a Baptist Church hayride we were once on, and she made me laugh so hard, I thought my ribcage would break. I loved to go over to her house on East 8th Street. Her mother was so sweet, and an incredible cook and seamstress. One time she made matching shorts outfits for Dana and me. For awhile when we were teenagers, we both worked the concession stand at the Eltex Theatre. After we graduated from high school in 1968, we went our separate ways. Dana apparently already had a plan for her future when we were kids, since she got a college degree and became a teacher. She was everything that was mentioned in her obituary - sweet, positive, and very dear.
I am sorry for your loss! I remember going to your moms classroom while we waited for her to take us to dance class :) She was beautiful inside and out and her love for God shined through! She will be missed by all.
