I feel so fortunate to have grown up with Joe "Dean". We went to school together from grammar school to high school. When riding the bus to school, Joe, Charles McCarter, and I would all sit in the back of the bus. These were our special seats, and everyone knew not to sit there!
Our families lived close together so we chopped and picked cotton together, and then used the money to attend the State Fair. I also have fond memories of popping corn in their family fireplace.
After high school graduation, we all went our separate ways, but were so proud that Joe went to college and then on to medical school to become a doctor. Although I didn't get to see him often, after many years we both attended our class reunion, and it was like greeting a old friend.
My condolences to his family.

We have certainly lost one of the kindest men of medicine in Henry County. I remember him as a compassionate person as well. My visits to his office were never filled with fear because he had a calming presence about him also. I will always remember him as a wise decision maker who led by example.

I had the pleasure of getting to know Dr. Blissit when I was working at the Georgian Gallery. He was a dear, sweet man who took the trouble to remember me whenever we would run into each other in the community. He was truly a treasure and I feel fortunate to have known him. My condolences to his family.
