Dear Judy and Family,
With sympathy and friendship, we Sisters of the Holy Names lovingly support you in prayer at this time when Ernie's life has changed from mortal to eternal. May his new life in God's presence bring great comfort to you all.
I met Ernie in 1957 when Judy and I worked together at Boeing. He was an "older man", probably 23 to my 19, so impressive, tall and handsome. Over 50 years later, my husband and I, along with Judy and Ernie, rented a sailboat and sailed around the Virgin Islands. A fabulous adventure - and a few misadventures, too. I am so sorry that family and friends will not have his physical presence with them, but the memories, his love for you all, will always be alive.
Judy and family, I'm so very sorry to hear this news. Ernie was my first boss and mentor as a professional forester. So much of what I know and how I work with others is a credit to him. He always encouraged and welcomed new ideas and provided the opportunity to try new things, all while being there to provide support if things didn't go so well. Ernie and Judy were also friends to my wife and me, introducing their love of sailing to us. Ernie, thanks for a life well lived and shared.
Aunt Judy - There are no words to truly express how deeply sorry I am for your loss. Uncle Ernie was a kind and wonderful man – simply the best. I have such fond memories of our visits to Mt. Vernon and our boating excursions. One of my most memorable was a time when we were boating, fishing and cooked the fish on the beach with something only Uncle Ernie could have fashioned out of wood, twigs, twine and an open fire on the beach (no pan). It was of course delicious, completely enjoyable and awe inspiring. I truly cherish the memories. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. All my love, “Little Judy”
Judy and family: There are no words that can adequately express our feelings right now. the news of Ernie's sudden death came as such a shock. We have so many fond memories of him - driving through the tulip fields, going out on the boat, dinners at your home in Mt. Vernon. We will miss Ernie so much. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Judy, and all of your family. We love you. xoxo
