Wishing the best to Shari and Family on what would have been
We knew Fred for almost 60 years. When I got the call from Clyde, he asked me, are you sitting down, luckily, I was, when he told me that Fred had died, I was just totally stunned. I then told Doris and she could not believe what I was telling her. We were all shocked and our first thoughts were for Richard & Shari, caring for Bill and then getting this news. We as a family are very good about getting the word out & the Prayer Chain going which I think was very helpful. We knew Fred as he was growing up, always enjoyed caring for him, he was never a problem very easy going & he maintained that quality through his adult life. We enjoyed sharing Fred's life growing up during joint family trips & vacations. He enjoyed waterskiing, snowmobiling and skiing. Fred loved to fly & after he got married, Fred & Judy shared their love of flying. I don't think Fred really ever got over Judy's death which occurred in 1983. Fred became very successful in his field of plant biology and later into a management position with Dow Chemical. Fred was a very private person and the things he got involved in he never talked about or shared, he just did them. The last time we saw Fred was when we were helping Bill move out of his home in Spearfish. Fred came to help, he was always good help, had good ideas & could fix most anything. He took Bill & us to lunch the day he left, we were pretty much finished with packing Bill's car, said our goodbye's and he left for home. Fred died a little like Mom. Mom was out shoveling the driveway when she died & Fred was out on a stormy day probably getting ready to clear his driveway of snow when he died. We have many good memories of Fred. He was loved by all who knew him. He is now reunited with Judy, those he loves & who love him. Love & miss you Fred.

My sister and I became good friends with
Shari in high school. She introduced me to Fred the first time we visited her at her house. I learned a lot about Fred from Shari. He was very quiet, but had a beautiful smile. I admired the life Fred chose for himself...to move out of state and be open for all the possibilities. I was proud of him.
