When Anne called last night to tell me about her father, the first thing that went through my head was that he was finally reunited with Edythe. He loved her with a love for the ages. Galen worked with my father on Cal Trans for over 35 years. They had the good fortune to work in the same office for most of that time.
Edythe was my brother's kindergarten teacher and newly out in the area. My mother wanted to set Edythe and Galen up on a date. Edythe wouldn't go without first checking Galen out. My mother and Betty Riley piled their nine kids in the back of a station wagon. They took Edythe out to the job site to see Galen. Looking back on it now, Galen had to know why three women and a car full of kids just happened to drive through the construction! Edythe consented to go out on the date and the rest is history..
Our families had some good times and we will always have them. For the rest of my life, I will always think of "Sargent Schultz" whenever I see a man out in the snow!
If we can do anything at all, please call on us. Stop by anytime, we would all love to see you!
Dear Dennis, Anne and family,
I was sad to see in the paper this morning that your Dad has passed away. I have fond memories of your family, when you lived next door to my family. Your Dad was always such a nice, friendly person. At least he is together with your Mom again. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Peggy and Butch
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
