I worked a bit with John; he was fearless in decision, loyal to a fault, committed to perfection, and first to embrace progress.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family-I worked with John on several occasions, he was a great man to work with -he will be missed
John and I were very close throughout high school, undergraduate and graduate school. John was certainly fun to be around. We always managed to get into some kind of trouble. John was extremely intelligent and was passionate about his work throughout his career. I was deeply saddened to learn he had passed. My condolences to his family.
I was very sad to read of John's passing. We worked together off and on over the last 20 years and I respected him a great deal.
I heard of John's passing today and am deeply saddened. We met as teenage hooligans and were very close friends in high school and for a few years beyond. We'd hang at the house on Hathaway and enjoy Jennie's fresh-baked cookies while exposing Gene to questionable behaviors.
John and I were co-captains of the Livonia FHS cross country team - league champions in 1974! He was a fierce competitor on the course and set many records. I recall the time when he crossed the finish line a quarter mile ahead of the next runner - after losing one of his shoes one-half mile into the race!
As others have posted, John was a great story teller, quick-witted, and very funny. I hadn't seen or talked to John for 30 years. I always thought we'd reconnect and talk about old times. Hopefully we will have that chance in the next world. RIP my friend.
