Nancy E "Nan" Honey (Kelso)
I just saw the sad news of CAPT Honey's passing on the IUSS alumni site. I knew her when I was stationed at RTF Dam Neck, where she worked as the Executive Officer (XO). Back then she was a LCDR and always had a smile on her face and a pleasant demeanor for her troops. Everyone at the command felt her name (N.E. Honey) was very befitting her wonderful disposition. I will forever remember her driving around base in her yellow classic Mercedes convertible, which almost always had the top down. That car was the envy of many, including me. Sending much sympathy to the family that raised such a wonderfully memorable person! She made a difference to all who met her!!! May she be navigating fair winds and following seas in heaven.
Capt. Honey, thank you for the years you gave to us at Naval Station Ingleside. You will always be remembered for your kindness and warm spirit. God Bless you and your family.
To Nan and her family, Nan, I know you are still out there somewhere and want you and your family to know what a wonderful impression you made on your South Texas friends. We saw you in your uniform and in your civilian outfits. Both sides of your life were well done. Calm winds and following seas to you. Too soon gone and always remembered. Fondly, Josephine miller
I had the pleasure of working with Nan at Fleet Training Center Norfolk. She was a superb Naval Officer, always professional, but superb to work with.
