Nettie Mae Hudson

My sweet aunt, Nettie Mae, was a great part of my early life. She babysat me and changed my diapers. She taught me to stand alone. She was always one to keep people on their toes, but did it with kindness, usually. She could be very firm when the occasion called for it. She and I always had and showed our mutual love and respect for one another. She had much love from her family and was there for them when they needed her. She came from a very strong family of Alabama farmers who did not suffer fools easily. Her father, Gene, was a man of the soil whose neck was red from the hot Alabama sun and his face was creased from staring across fields of cotton searching for the rain clouds and worrying about feeding his family. He was a great man and passed along to Nettie Mae the down to earth values she would live by all her days. Her fiesty momma passed along a bit of a temper that was usually well controlled.
We will miss her all our days, but she would not want us to mourn her passing too long. She is now with her JW and her daughter, Louise. They are having a joyful reunion and talking about old times. Goodby Mae, we will always love you and thanks again...Wilburn

James, Lisa, and family; Mr and Mrs Hudson were always kind and helpful to me. I have fond memories of them from the canning plant days as well as when mom and dad moved next door to them. I believe she is in a better place. Your family members are in my prayers.

James, Lisa and family. Mae was a special person to my family. She was my mother's best friend, a friend to me and someone who helped me when my mother was so ill. Some of my fondest childhood memories are going to the farm to see Mae & J.W. I am sure Mae, J.W. and Mom are watching over us. My deepest sympathy to your family.

Dear James and Leisa,
It was with great sadness that I learned last night of your mom's passing. I know this is a time of deep and very personal sadness for you. Oh, the joy that I was introduced into her life!!! How fortunate I was. I have loved her so. I have so many memories of Aunt Mae's and my trip to Alabama together. A very special journey it was. Thinking of you. I care so very much. With deepest sympathy.
