
ANNA RUTH COLVIN , 88, of Tucson, Ariz., died Tuesday, May 16, 2012.
Anna was born to Alma Ruth Blacketter Saxbury and Ben W. Saxbury May 4,1924. She was born at the home North of Cincinnati Landing and attended Scott Wike School there. She attended and graduated from Pittsfield High School in Pittsfield, IL in 1944. She married Robert M. Colvin of Pittsfield, IL and they moved to Tucson, Ariz. Of that union, was born a son, Robert Gary Colvin.
Anna was one of the original "Rosie The Riveters" and worked on airplanes at Davis Monthan AFB during WWII. After the war was over, she went to work for the Canteen Service as an Administrative Assistant at the Tucson VA Hospital. She received several awards and accolades from her superiors in the Canteen Service. She took early retirement when her beloved husband, Robert, became ill.
Preceding Anna in death was her son, Robert Gary Colvin and her husband, Robert M. Colvin. Anna was the caregiver for both. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Ben W. and Alma Ruth Saxbury, and one brother, Ben J. Saxbury.
Surviving Anna are two brothers, Richard Saxbury of Hull, IL., and Thomas Saxbury (wife Karen Sue Moore Saxbury) of El Dara, IL; two sisters, Martha Shatzer of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Bonita Saxbury of Hull, IL.; a grandson, Donovan Colvin (wife Sylvia Colvin), a great-grandson, Jacob Colvin of Tucson; and a daughter-in-law and care giver, Doreen Diggens (husband Ken) of Hereford, AZ.
Private services and burial were held May 22 at Funeraria Del Angel, South Lawn Chapel in Tucson
