I was sad to hear of his passing but glad that he was able to stay at home. Every time we came up from the states we stopped by to visit. Somewhere there is a picture of me and mom standing behind that chair as well. My nephews met him and remembered his kindness of giving them some money to go buy candy at that neighborhood store. He was always thought of and will be missed
Art has been in my life for a very long time (him and my grandmother dated way way back). I just got to meet Art about 18 years ago, I had been in his life for 18 wonderful years. Art and I became so close and enjoyed every day together. I know I am not blood but in Art's eyes I WAS FAMILY. I can go on and on about Art and I but all I can say is I enjoyed him so much and I was determined to fulfill his wish and I DID.
Will miss you so much Art but I know you are with my grandmother and my Dad and your family. REST IN PEACE MY SWEET ANGEL ART.
LOVE YOU TOO PIECES XXXOOO
Uncle Art I will always remember your stories about how you could tell Louisa & my self apart. You will be greatly missed. We love you!!
Oh Uncle ART... I remember playing in your sand box when I was a kid. I remember coming to visit with the family. So many years later and I still have fond memories. Thanks for opening your home and heart to us.
Arthur had been a part of my life for some 65 years more or less. Following the war he and my father, Fred Gates, worked together until my father's death in 1976. Art was like an uncle to me, he attended my hockey games through high school, junior and university. I visited and / or kept in touch with him wherever I was until the day he died. He gave me much advice over many years.
I will miss him !! Dennis Gates - Halifax
